Before Cruncho, Värnamo ran several separate event calendars across the municipality. That meant a heavy administrative load — some events had to be registered in multiple places, and organizer submissions couldn't be published directly. The team manually copied and pasted every detail into their systems, and every image had to be reformatted to a specific size. Worst of all, they couldn't create an event with multiple dates or times: a recurring event had to be entered as several separate ones.

Värnamo wanted a smart tool that would make publishing events far easier while also being good for the end user — one place to gather everything from the municipality's many arenas, venues and organizers, presented in a clear and inspiring way. Cruncho met many of the requirements they had set out.

With Cruncho, events only need to be published in one calendar. Thanks to open APIs, Värnamo automatically pulls event information from their largest arenas — including Gummifabriken — which cuts manual handling significantly. More organizers now register their own events, which the team simply reviews and approves, and permission management makes it easy to control who can publish directly and who needs approval first. The same calendar is then displayed across several different websites.

The everyday wins add up: images no longer need reformatting, an event is registered only once even with multiple dates and times, Facebook events transfer smoothly, and presentation mode gives the team better control over headings and a clearer experience for users.

Compared with before, Värnamo saves a great deal of time. More organizers now post their own events, which has broadened and enriched the calendar's overall offering. The team has even begun collaborating with other operations that can embed Värnamo's event calendar on their own websites — extending the reach of what's happening across the municipality. When issues have come up, Cruncho has resolved them quickly.
