The event calendar has always been one of Varberg's most-visited pages — yet the system behind it was not living up to that importance. Adding events was cumbersome and complicated, and organizers had limited ability to manage their own listings. Every submission required manual intervention from the municipality's team, creating a bottleneck that didn't scale with the city's growing event scene.

When Varberg decided to rebuild their website, it was a natural moment to also renew the event management system that powered it. They wanted a platform where organizers could log in and publish their own events — with simplified date handling, automatic location fill, and the ability to display events across multiple websites. Privacy compliance was non-negotiable. After evaluating their options, Cruncho checked every box.

Cruncho was integrated via the API directly into visitvarberg.se, giving the municipality full control over how event data is presented on their site. Organizers can now create and manage their own events through the Event Manager — with features like the Smart Date Picker for multi-date events and automatic geographic information fill that reduce effort dramatically.

The system also met all of Varberg's privacy and data protection requirements — a key factor in the selection process.

Since launching in November 2023, Varberg's event ecosystem has grown steadily. The municipality now manages digital event content far more efficiently — with 400+ organizers independently publishing and updating their events, 2,000+ events in the system, and over 200 live at any given time. The team no longer spends hours on manual data entry; instead, the platform does the heavy lifting while the municipality focuses on the bigger picture.
